The Douglas County Chamber Singers

Formed in 2002, the Douglas County Chamber Singers is a 40-voice auditioned choral group. In addition to annual Christmas and Spring concerts, the Chamber Singers have performed at many local events including "Christmas in the Courthouse," the 17th Annual Holiday Concert of the U.S. Army Ground Forces Band of Fort McPherson, the Veteran's Health Fair at Arbor Place Mall, an Evening of Giving at Arbor Place Mall and the Hydrangea Festival. We were honored to sing Mozart's Requiem, conducted by John Rutter, at Carnegie Hall in June 2007 and in Vienna this summer.

Our mission is to provide quality choral music for the citizens of Douglas County, Georgia, while always endeavoring to bring enjoyment to both the listener and the performer. We hope to become THE recognized musical voice of Douglas County. We value and promote musicianship, proficiency, community spirit, enjoyment, and diversity.

The Douglas County Chamber Singers is a satellite of the Cultural Arts Center of Douglasville/Douglas County.

The Chamber Singers are lead by Vickie Orme. We rehearse Tuesday nights from 7:30 to 9:30 PM at the First United Methodist Church of Douglasville from August through the end of March.

The Conductor Ms. Vickie Orme founded and conducts the Douglas County Chamber Singers. Ms. Orme holds a Baccalaureate degree in music education, with an emphasis in vocal and choral music, and a Master's degree in music education and vocal performance from the University of West Georgia. She teaches private lessons in piano, voice and violin and has taught music within the public school system.

Ms. Orme has been involved in many community organizations, including directing the Stars and Stripes Singers in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, singing as a soloist and as a choir member with the West Atlanta/Douglas Choral Society, and she currently sings with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chorus. She has been a soloist at church functions, for the West Atlanta/Douglas Choral Society, and with the U.S. Army Ground Forces Band, Fort McPherson, GA, at their annual Holiday Concert. Ms. Orme lives in Douglasville, GA with her family.
